Why does there have to be cosmic or philosophical meanings in a movie that appeals to animal lovers, and is funny and entertaining? If you don't like it, then watch Game of Thrones or some other mess appealing to the fans of fake history with lots of sex and violence, not to mention dragons. Both Garfield movies are just plain and simply funny.
shareAGREED! I went to see this with my Grandfather & while the complexity of CGI evoked the query "How did they get that cat to do those things?" The answer "he was a cartoon" covered all the 'plot holes' & made for a 'fun for all ages' experience. I was 21 when we went & my BABA was 80+, I loved Garfield & Murray being 'himself' as well as "acting" along side Stephen Tobolowsky again & my BABA enjoyed that "Damn cat allergies" was the most 'offensive' part of the film (thre was more profanity during the car ride & that's the way he likes it!)
I fell asleep during INCEPTION BUT I FEEL like I still saw it!

Yes, because GoT is a "mess", and its history is "fake". Not to mention dragons!
And yes, movies that appeal to animal lovers and are funny and entertaining HAVE to have "cosmic" and "philosophical" meanings. Somebody really claimed that!
