I think 6.1 is fair. It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I'm guessing that people like already make up their minds about a film like this before you even see it.

I started to watch this film with a closed off mind I liked the 1979 version but I thought I was going to hate 2004s version but at the end I was surprised I liked it so I’m sorry but 6.1 is fair.

It is a fair verdict. The film is not very good but also not very bad.

What are you trying to pull here, you sarcastic prick? -- Collateral (2004)

I ranked this as an 8. I ranked the original as a 9, though to be honest I think they are both in the 8.5 range. They're just different, that's all (original = scarier, remake = better script and production values).

I gave it a 9. Probably overrating it, but I liked it..more than I should have. Don't know what all the bitter nerds are whining about.

Atrocious film from start to finish. Yes they stayed relatively faithful to the novel but the performances were horrific, particularly Rob Lowe with his monotone narration and wooden acting.

This is my first time watching this movie and I think it's pretty good and entertaining !:) I believe 6.1 is appropriate for it. 1.6 is too low, and I think you should give 1.6 to The Devils' Reject instead.

reply

I gave it a 4. I liked the original better and I didn't even like that one all that much... I don't like the changes in demeanor from the original (and above all, the novel) in Ben and Mark's characters especially. I also didn't care for the changes made to the backstory of the Marsten House.

I actually did go into this one with an open-mind and a little more optimistic than the original, as from what I had previewed through reading, it seemed to follow the original story more closely. In some regards it did, but of course there were still characters missing or combined with other characters, even ones that had been included in the original...

Overall I enjoyed the cinematography more, but the rising action felt a bit scattered and strangely paced to me.

Got the dvd on region one back in 2004, sat down to watch.....3hrs of my life i'm never gonna get back! Even if you put aside the fact that they took every classic scene from the '79 version & ruined it, the addition of a homosexual angle & probably the worse use of cgi i've ever seen adds up to a major disappointment, i understand the use of artistic license, but it was unneeded, unjustified, and did nothing to add to the story, before the get a life brigade jump on board & call me homophobic, remember the original story had absolutely no bearing & didn't even remotely touch on the subject, had high hopes for this, but sadly fails on all counts apart from the core story, & lets face it, Mr King has to take the credit for that!

I thought it was better than 6.1, personally. I gave it an 8.
