Still Vampires?

so after they kill the head vampire, we hear some weird sound and then rob lowe looks around at the other sleeping vampires and says they're dead.

that said to me that like many movies, killing the head vampire cured everyone else...so how come people are still vampires at the end, even some of the people who were in that room when he was killed?

what was the point or reason of that weird sound if nothing changed?

You have a good point...maybe the noise was the vampires "mentally" registering the death of their master, while in their state of sleep. It does let Rob Lowe think he's safe...then he sees Susan.

Rob Lowe's character only said "I think they're dead", but we later find out that this isn't true as we see Eva, Ed and the rest of them in the street walking up to Father Callahan. And, of course, Susan comes to visit him.

According to the folklore, if a vampire is destroyed before the victim dies, the victim will recover. If the victim dies before the vampire is done away with, the victim will be un-dead until he or she is dealt with. In other words, if the victim dies he or she will become a vampire him or herself.

In spite of what Stephen King tells us in the Dark Tower series, my understanding of the folklore also tells me that there is only one type of vampire and there are no Type One, etc. The various 'types' is an invention of writers such as King and nothing more.

Hope this helps.
