a new easy-open box! just for Lance

Spoilers:

Watching the end of Hellworld. Lance handles the box a little, pushes one button on the side and presto-all the Cenobites show up. Other people have had to struggle with it to get it to do anything. Remember Kirsty in the hospital H2-she couldn't even remeber how to reopen it.

So why could Lance just push one button and he was on his way?
Please dont tell me that its because he was "so evil" that the box simplified itself for him. There is no support to that theory based on the other movies.

Maybe he had been working on it offscreen earlier and lost his nerve and decided to try it again, unknowingly finishing it?

The box doesn't make any sense, same with a lot of plot elements in the Hellraiser franchise. Sometimes the box is exceedingly difficult to open, as in Hellraiser 2 when the doctor gave it to the little girl to open. She was supposedly a genius with puzzles (or at least that seemed to be the implication) and it took her awhile to figure out. Other times people just rubbed their finger around the circle and voila it opened. It's not consistent at all.

I have to agree with lead Cenobite. That's how it always seemed to me was the box was based on if you were looking for it's contents or not. If you know what it had to offer, it would be more difficult to open but if you stumbled upon it and had no idea what it was, you could somehow open it very quickly.

Life is like that in a lot of ways. =P

He opened the same as everyone else does. Rubs his thumb around the circle then presses the button on the side. It's ussually the same. It's always funny though when you see someone grab the box and just instantly rub their thumb around that circle. I wish they would mess with it a while before just doing that.

But that isn't the solution. The idea is that the Box has numerous movements, hidden. Watch parts 1 and 2 and hear all the clicks and noises made just by touching the surface. The button followed by movement followed by circle followed by movement is just the final parts. Saddly they don't even get that bit in the right order these days.

on the No More Souls or what ever it was called I think has one of the best box openings. On the older ones they had to pull it up and turn it and press back down on the newer ones it does that automatically. What about when they turned it into like a spike deal what's up with that?

In hellseeker the box is a sphere for one scene. now that is weird.

I think it depends if your trying to get the pain/pleasure thing on purpose.

Any truth to the thought that the box might be easier to open for someone deserving of going to hell as opposed to someone who is innocent. This might explain why the more innocent people in the earlier films had a hard time opening it and Lance had no problem after killing those people...

"The length of time it takes to solve the box is different depending on who's trying to solve it."

Actually, the The length of time it takes to solve the box is different depending on who's directing at the time.

The box is designed to be hard to open, thats why they made excuses in the first five (1 - luck, 2 & 5 - skill, 3 - cant remember:P 4 - creator) Now its insignificant cause why would you spend time trying to open a box when ye could be hacking people to shreds?:S

In hellraiser she didnt have that much trouble opening the box and she was the innocent, random, virgin teenager.

Perhaps its more of the desire, not just for the human but for what waits for the human. Pinhead explained he should of came sooner to get him.

the obvious answer is that there was probably never a real solution to begin with. as the movies got more and more diluted and drifted farther from source material, this little detail just sort of fell by the wayside.
