Do you think than an English language remake is going to happen?

It seems all the best foreign films are remade into American, Hollywood-ized films.

If so, what filmmaker would you trust most to make sure it didn't suck.

I could see Christopher Nolan pulling this off.

No way? The closet thing to a remake would be Fincher's Zodiac.
Memories of Murder is uniquely a Korean film with parallels and commentary on Korean history and politics of the time period. Remake would be impossible.

reply

Impossible, no. You would just have to change around those political things. Should it be done? Not at all. The movie is perfect the way it is.

Maybe if Snow Piercer is a complete flop Bong Joon-ho will need the money that Roy Lee offers him from his profiting off of raping and pillaging Oriental cinema.

Michael Bay should direct, with Martin Lawrence in Song Kangho's role and Will Smith playing the cop from Seoul and Megan Fox as the female detective. The central chase scene should be expanded into an epic action sequence involving cars, trains, oil tankers, fighter jets, giant mechanical robots and the international space station. It should last at least as long as the pearl harbor attack sequence from, pearl harbor.

Also don't forget Morgan Freeman somewhere in there.
