5 minutes cut from UK DVD, or faulty?

I saw this on BBC Four a while back (and recorded it) but recently decided to buy the DVD, but it's five minutes shorter than the version shown on BBC Four. I'm not sure though if it's been cut for the DVD or if the copy I have is maybe faulty/has an authoring error, as the 'cut' is pretty abrupt.

It happens at 1hr 42mn 44s, just after the train incident, when Inspector Park is back at Soel-Young's house and she is scrubbing the blood out of his clothes and he's looking at the photo of Park Hyun-gyu. There is then a brief scene with Park Hyun-gyu and Suh Tae-yoon at the police station, where Park Hyun-gyu gets up and leaves. It then abruptly cuts to the scene where Suh Tae-yoon is sitting in his car outside the cafe watching Park Hyun-gyu who later manages to slip him by getting on the bus.

What's missing from my DVD is all that takes place in between, so the discussion at the police station about DNA, etc., Inspector To having to go for treatment on his leg at hospital, and the scene with Inspector Park hooked up to a drip. A total of about 5 minutes or so.

Can any one else who has the UK DVD confirm if yours is missing this 5 minutes or not?

(all name spellings from the subtitles rather than imdb's listings)

I've got the UK dvd and the exact same thing happened. I thought the transition felt a bit sudden and weird but I thought it was just maybe supposed to be like that so I didn't think much about it.

Thanks for the confirmation tin_since95. I'd left it too late to take my copy back for an exchange so I bought another copy to check and that too had the same missing 5 minutes. Got a refund for that one. I'm going to order a different release which hopefully has the full film. Maybe even the Blu-ray release.

Oh, and apologies in taking so long getting back to you.

That's odd, I watch this on tv last night and that scene was included.

I'm guessing he was on before 2200 and the BBC did their usual stupid cuts.
I hear they really go to town on the Godfather with their edits.

Still, it's not as bad as E4's cuts. They cut halfway through a joke :s

Yes, it's there in the version shown on TV, but it's missing from the UK DVD release. It looks to be an authoring error as the missing 5 minutes actually accounts for a whole chapter.

I have it on my copy I watched today, the scenes you described as missing seem to be there. Here's the copy I bought: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Memories-Murder-DVD-Kang-Ho-Song/dp/B0002W12US/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382881431&sr=8-1&keywords=memories+of+murder

That's the same one I bought. I tried both copies I bought on 3 DVD players, a Blu-ray player and in my DVD drive on my PC and it did the same on all of them. You got lucky with your copy.

I too noticed this on my new DVD though I didn't realise it had actually skipped a whole scene. Pretty poor quality control there.

Hmm, I watched the DVD yesterday (bought from HMV) and all of these scenes were in it. I read this post and I was bit worried I'd miss something but luckily all of this was in it.
