When inXF history did this happen?

Ok, XF ended in 2002 and this game came out in 2004. So the story that's contained in this game, when exactly did it happen!? I want to know because it features the Lone Gunmen, and they DIED in the ninth season of the X-Files. Could it be that this takes place sometime after the series finale? If so...HOW?! Sorry, but I'm seriously holding out hoping against hope that *somehow* the Gunmen live on. Any thoughts? Come on people, help out a desprate Gungirl here..I NEED TO KNOW!

Sorry but the lone Gunmen are still dead . This takes place in season seven.

Yeah, shame about the Gunmen. But yeah, if you actually bother to look at Mulder and Scullys notes you can probably find out when it is to the episode number as they reference previous episodes important to the plot of the game (most come from Season 6).

The intro we see to the game, with several footage from the show, goes from S1 to the two first episodes from S7. So, we can guess this happends somewhere between "The Sixth Extintion PII" and "Hungry".
