The ending (spoilers)
I was interrupted at the very end where Eyal was corresponding to Axel about the baby. Did Eyal marry and have a baby with Pia?

There was absolutely something going on between them. Whether it was consummated or not is another issue altogether, though. How can people not have seen that?
Great film, incidentally. Entertaining, intelligent, thought-provoking and moving. Best film I have seen all year!
I rented it from Netflix, thne bought it from Amazon for $20 - it is definitely a keeper.

The Dead Sea and campfire scenes, Eyal's apparent jealousy at the Tel Aviv disco. Pretty clear to me.

If I were straight and saw the ending as it was, I would not have believed that the two men shared an intimate relationship for two years.
In fact, I would have just brushed it off as a tender heartfelt moment shared between two men. And with the next scene of him holding a baby, and a shot of Pia sleeping in bed... why would anyone think otherwise that the two didn't pursue a relationship and raise a baby in that time?
I think it's just ridiculous that they edited two years of a very important relationship out of the movie. This movie was almost perfect too... I should have known that it was too good to be true.

I kinda cheated. I read some of the spoilers, and ended the movie after it faded to black when they embraced. I know I know, something else happens, what i didnt see it, and it's good enough to fool myself =)

I just saw this movie for that first time last night, and throughout it I was really hoping they would get together. They got so close over just the span of a few weeks, and there were so many tender moments between them, I couldn't help but hope. I thought the after the fade-to-black was a tad cheesy (well, the dream part was sweet, the baby with Pia was not). At least if it ended after the embrace, it would be left open to interpretation. The stupid rednecks could think it was manly bonding, and anyone who wanted to could think of it as something more.
They should release a directors cut so it could be seen the way it was intended. Though really, I don't think there were too many rednecks watching this anyway, because I live in New York and never even heard of it until last night when it was on Stars, so I think the chances are not too many hillbillies were aware of its' existence.
Anyway, it was a great movie, and if I buy the DVD, I think I'll just turn it off before it cuts to the happily ever after, and write my own happily ever after that does not involve any girls or babies (except maybe for adopted ones)!
