Buford Pusser vs The Rock

That's a pretty good estimation of Rock versus Pusser. For the record, I am NO fan of wrestling, but if I were a betting man and Buford and Rock could have met in both of their primes, I would lay down ALL of my Samolians on Buford! Rock is an entertainer who happens to be in good shape. Buford was the real deal, and went up against the toughest and won all but one time (his death).

I met Buford when I was a kid. It is hard to judge a person's size based on a childhood recollection. Everyone seems big then. The Rock is clearly in better shape. I think he'd have a pretty good ground attack from stuff he'd learned on the way through wrestling. Physically I think the Rock would win.
But
In a real fight intangibles count. And Pusser had that. I mean he was shot 8 times and stabbed about as many times. He was a tough SOB. One of the gunshots he took was a shotgun to the face. And trust me, if you had met him as a kid, you'd think "looks like he was shot in the face with a shotgun."
And Pusser would kill you. Many suspect his involvement in several murders of the men suspected of the ambush that killed his wife. No one knows for sure I guess. Anyway, he was not only tough but mean too.
Yet, who knows. The Rock could be just as badass in the given situation too.

Pusser was actually bigger than the Rock.

Pusser was a big boy from what my mom told me. Being raised in and around the farming life produces some tough dudes I guess. And remember size doesn't matter. I've got into fights with big guys as well as little guys. I'd rather scrap with the bigger guys. Those little guys will keep fighting.
