So Jay vs. Chris?

Shouldn't this have been the most one sided hand to hand fight ever? Let's forget for the moment that Chris was a decorated special forces guy, someone The Rock's size should be able to demolish Jay. The only way I would say it could even up was if Jay had combat knowledge that Chris didn't have, but then you have that special forces training. The fight lasted much longer than it should have.

you make a good point but come on did you really want the climax to be over before it started like tyson and mcneely? and just a little to help suspension of disbelief jayhad already known of a vulnerable spot on chris below his knee so he was able to exploit it making it ,to me anyway, believable that he could geta few shots in

I agree with our host. The Rock should've kicked his ass. The fight should've been one sided. He took on all of those guys in the casino and I find it hard to believe he had touble with the little punk villain.

I listened to the DVD commentary once, and the director said that although it wasn't shown nor mentioned in the film, Jay Hamilton had some type of previous training. I can't remember exactly what kind, but I believe he was in some type of a reserve branch of the military. I believe that is why Jay was able to hang as long as he did.

Not once does the movie say that he is former special forces.

it says he was army and that is it. 2 even the army rangers just learn hand to hand combat to give them confidence nothing more. the army rangers do know knife fighting but nothing else.

also size matters not. my cousin has been in fights with marines and special forces and did not get his ass kicked in fact he has bat the crap out of special forces

When they took his necklace, the dude said special forces.

Don't forget that just mere minutes before, Jay pushed him out of a door/window at the mill, some distance up, and he landed on his back. That, coupled with the crash through the floor, should've taken him down a notch.

Good point! That was a nasty fall, and would've softened up anyone.

reply

Yes!

I loved that fight, but the scene where they are rolling down the hill (both with axes) was too unbelievable. Those axes would've cut off a body part, arm, leg.
