To all you dumb-asses under 25 who never bother to research anything, this movie was already made with a fitting white guy who looks like the real sheriff did in the 1960's who this story is based off of!
I HATE when some studio picks some trendy idiot like this half-whatever breed to portray someone who looks NOTHING like him, nor acts anything like this guy did in the real story. Look it up and learn. Vote this piece of crap 1 star.
I made him feel shame... my shame. ToL Indies to watch: Blue Ridge Once Shotgun Stories Old Joy
Exactly shootaruss. I am not even 25. I am 44 and I like this movie a lot. It does not have to be exactly the same as the original. Is there any remake exactly the same as the original? If it was exactly the same, what is the point of it, when it is not going to be any better? So many people hating remakes and it just annoys the crap out of me and others for stupid people that don't like to see different point of views.
Another question to the OP. Are you a Windows XP user and still continues to use it? If you are, that is why you are so hard on any changes. You are a never changing person. So hung up on sticking with old stuff.
There is not one remake I will not try out the first time, whether I hate it or not. One watch is not that hard.
It was a different kind of movie for a different era. They didn't try to be a biopic like the original and they didn't insult us by trying to pass off Dwayne Johnson as Buford Pusser.

The original is far superior to this cheesy remake, the "rock" as he calls himself is more of a joke than an actor, this was nearly impossible to watch with all the super cheesy scenes.
I remember watching this when it first came on tv. It was/ is supposedly to be a autobiography TV movie of the week. The real sheriff was White. Not any other color or race. It would be like matt Damon playing James Earl Jones. Make it right or don't make it at all!
