About the penguins...

Why is the crate they are in being shipped to Africa? Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they live in tundra (Antarctica) climates? I know that we get some here in Australia but as far as I'm aware, only in the cold areas. The reporter in the film said they were being shipped to their natural habitats, so I'm confused. Are there penguins in Africa or was that just a plot hole the writers put in as an excuse to get the crates in the water (if they were going to Antarctica they would never have turned the ship)

reply

Plot hole most likely, just assume the people who packed the crates were idiots and put penguins in crates to Africa, that's what I did.

Penguins can be found in South Africa during certain months.

could be the penguins are being taken to africa first then transfered, tis not like many cargo ships go to antartica after all...

reply

Well, they were going to another zoo or wildlife sanctuary of some sort, so one would assume that this zoo also had the technology and ability to house penguins, the same as the NYC zoo did. After all, penguins hardly belong in North America either, do they?

Only a few species of penguin actually live in the antarctic, including the largest and probably most famous species, the Emperor Penguin. But, varieties of penguin exist all over the Southern Hemisphere, including the southern coast of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and South America.
