Your favorite parts/lines :o)

Here's some of my favorite parts of this film:

Sara: "I can't get hippo in the bag!"
Henry: "Give it to me!" [stuffs the hippo in]

Henry: "That's it! Hippo goes out the window!"
Sara: "Followed by Erwin!"

Audrey: "You've totally ruined my entire life!" (or something like that)
Jenny: "Well, we'll fix it later!"

Jenny: "Guys, guys! Don't chew on the window sill."
Helen: "Yeah. Stick to the table legs, like I taught you."

The cute smile and the "yeah...yeah" line Sara gives Helen after she first helps her tie her shoes.

When Helen is talking to Henry about why he doesn't play basketball anymore, and the line she says that goes something like "because every time you smile or laugh or enjoy your life, it makes their dreams come true." I just love how true that line is and it's something that all children who are in that same situation and feeling the same way should to be told.

When Helen trips going to see Pastor Dan.

Pastor Dan: "Cable guy."
Helen: "It's the exorcist!" (I LOVE the way she reacts before that line, it's so funny)

When the waitor at the restaurant sings the happy birthday song to hippo. I love that part!

There's many more but I can't think of them right now. What are all of your favorite moments in this film?

reply

Pretty much just everything from Sara, I like her, she's SO cute.

Sara: Can I name it Hippo?
Henry: Why you name everything Hippo?
Sara: Because I can spell it.

I love it when she doesn't know how to tie her shoes, I love it when she lies on the bed and says no one is celebrating Hippo's birthday......

That girl can act, that's why she's an Oscar nominee!

Oh, I just love these Breslins.

reply

Jenny:You listen to me. If you ever so much as blink in her direction again, I can and will bury you so far in the ground that the heat from the earth's core will incinerate your sorry ass!

That made me laugh.

reply

Jenny was so great in that scene (telling off the boyfriend). I love when she takes mercy on him and says " YOU'RE NOT A BAD PERSON!" (guy shrinks back)"But what you did WAS VERY VERY BAD!" Joan Cusack was awesome in this. She usually is.

my favorite part is when dan asks Helen on a date. and shes like " oh no i've turn you from your Godly ways" and hes like " i'm a luthern minister, i can date get married have kids watch dirty movies, well im pushing it with the dirty movies"

My love for you is like this scar,(points at elbow) ugly, but permanent.

One of my fav bits is when Helen tries to break up the party and is just ignored, so Jenny tells her to go get Nilma; and she just comes out swinging with a baseball bat. I love the "baggy pants kid" references and the part where she wakes up a dozing guy yelling "this isnt a sleepover!". That scene is jus so funny - & belivable. I once threw a party while my parents were out and my neighbour came over (minus the baseball bat) and just went off at everyone -scary times.

Jenny (To BZ):: You're not a bad person. This is just VERY BAD behavior

I crack up like none other during this line

reply

The last line you mentioned was one of the funniest for me. =D The waiter singing was so cool, especially after just getting more into beatboxing thanks to Blake Lewis from American Idol. That waiter was really good.

I love when Nilma runs in with her baseball bat. =)

I personally love the part near the end where Helen asks Audrey to get her wallet, and than tells her to give her the fake ID. When she says she's not a child and helen says something like, yes you are, you are a child, and you should fight for it but if you wont I will, now give me the fake ID. I love that scene because it shows Helen can be a mother, and it's so true. Why are kids so quick to grow up these days?

reply

i thought it was funny when audrey had that party and then helen came home. she called jenny and when she said something to the kids like jenny told her to, she got back to her and said they're not ready to leave.

reply

The motel scene, definitely.

Are you ready for this? I DON'T THINK SO!

reply

My favorite lines (in no particular order):

1. Where Audrey gives back her fake ID and she tells Hellen shes not a child and Helen says yes and she should fight 4 it.

2. "Its the Exorcist"

3. "Who cares, now we can watch MTV"

4. "I can't get Hippo in the bag, give it 2 me. There its in the bag, happy now."

5. "Thats it, Hippo goes out the window."

6. "Stuff by Shank 54; He writes Poems on the side of our building w/ Spray Paint at 4 in the morning. Sometimes I help when I can't sleep because Aunt Helens on a date, or when Audreys on the Internet talking dirty, or Sarahs crying because we forgot to feed her again; I thought it was funny, Thank You."

7. When there in the Hotel Room and Joan Cusack tells the boyfriend that he be buried so far, he'll burn in hell.

reply

Any part with Joan Cusack in is my favourite......

"I've got a stomachful of Xanax. I took what was left of a bottle. It might have been too much."

"watch the kids, i'm going to go help helen again!"

i love the again part.
and when i think it's helen, goes over to the neighbor and asks her for help, and she picks up the bat and helen's like "no, no"

one of my favorite parts are when helen and jenny are arguing because jenny read her letter.

i also loved when helen finally got to read jenny's letter, at the end. the end was one of my favorite parts.
also when helen was trying to convince henry to play basketball again.

How's your mind?
Blown?

reply

In no particular order:

when Helen says to Dan "The only things I haven't lost are my nicotine habit and the few pounds that have recently taken residence on my ass!"

when Jenny says to the hotel manager about the key "Do you think I want to live here, you crazy man!" Not meant to be really funny, but is nonetheless.

when Henry gets the hot dog from the dirty looking hot dog vender, Helen goes and pays for it, and Helen says "I'm glad you're making new friends, Henry"

The beatbox thing from the waiter when they celebrate Hippo's birthday.

reply

The part where Abigail Breslin says Hippo wants to be a lutheran.

reply

Helen: Isn't that right, Father?
Dan: Pastor.
Helen: Father Pastor?
Dan: Pastor Parker.

Sarah: Who's gonna make me chicken fingers?
Helen: Me.
Sarah: And give me a bath?
Helen: Me.
Sarah: And check my nose boogies for infections?
Helen: We'll find someone else to do that last one.

i guess we're all getting a's!

he's big on free meat around here

lemme at em!

when helen takes a photo of audrey and her prom daye, she says say cheese! and sara who's not in the picture does a big smile

such a sweet funny movie, i love it!

The teacher saying it happens to me all the time when the kids draw on the girls face with the felt tips.

reply

The whole fake lutheran interview, with the "Father Pastor" misunderstanding as mentioned above, and Helen panicking when the pastor mentions the mandatory blood tests to verify that children are truly lutheran lol.

Then later when they come back on first day of school, Dan the Pastor goes: "Oh look, it's the FOUR LUTHERANS" - that really floored me.

When it comes to the melancholy moments, sad Sara lying on the bed saying "Hippo's parents are still on vacation." And we all know what she means.

"I am like Cryptonite to men. Cryptonite dipped in cellulite!"
