I liked how they got guys for the movie that knew how to play hockey and acting came second. In the end, it worked out. They needed these guys to make it look real and they did. Their acting wasn't bad either.
I remember when Stallone cast Tommy Morrison in Rocky V. He said it would be easier to teach a real fighter to act than to teach an actor to box. I think he might've been right.
This was also done for the 1968 movie "Paper Lion", where -- apart from Alan Alda, Lauren Hutton, David Doyle, and a young Roy Scheider -- pretty much all the athletes were real Detroit Lions & St. Louis Cardinal football players.
shareAnd I have to agree with you, and I bet it made it a lot easier and saved the filmmakers time by not having to have somebody to train them to play hockey and even skate. You wouldn't want a person that has never learned how to skate or been on ice before. And I am sure you you;don't want a hockey player then has never skated before either.
