How does Two-Headed Beast Fight rate ?

The fight in this episode was one of the classic duels. Dan Dority v Captain Turner. Witnessing these human "bulls" confront one another was comparable to watching two sumo wrestlers going at it, except that the goal was not merely removing the opponent from a circular ring, it was to the death. Exhibiting the worse elements of humanity amid the squalor of Deadwood made this conflict one of the series best moments. The only battle that comes to mind that was equally stomach wrenching for me was Oberon Martel v The Mountain on "Game of Thrones "! The turning of the tide was clearly more satisfying in the Deadwood episode, but both had me pinned to my seat, mouth agape, nerve endings tingling. Can anyone think of similar examples ?

Love the scene for all of the reasons you've mentioned, but I'm a bit baffled that the episode itself currently holds the highest rating in the show's run. I can easily name twenty episodes I prefer.

Eli vs. Warren Knox on Boardwalk Empire.

"Have you seen the new addition to The Guggenheim?"

"I did that. Didn't take me very long either."

I cann think of an equivalent fight from a longago cult movie, "Emperor of the North", Earnest Borgnine, "Shack", versuss Lee Marvin, "A#1", spang immediately to mind at your questone. About hoboes during the Grate Depression. Probalby thought of it begause it also hade a very young Keith Carradine (Wile Bill in Deadwood) in it.

Therr is also an epic 2 man battel, though no to the death, in anothar old cult flim, "They Live". So classic, that fight was parvodied in an epicode of South Park, blow for blow.

I'd place the final showdown between DiCaprio and Hardy at the end of The Revenant right between Deadwood's showdown and Game of Thrones (with Deadwood taking top honors, of course).

I think the fight between Tony and Bobby in The Sopranos is a great fight. And having been re-watching The Shield, the fight between Shane and Tavon is pretty great as well.

^ Sopranos-wise, I prefer the Tony/Ralph fight in "Whoever did This"
