Why is she helped?

Just after she hides in the swimming pool and before she finally escapes, she simply gives a look to the guard sitting at the monitors n shakes her head. Why does he help her by giving her the car keys n letting her escape, without thinking a bit? There should be a specific reason, otherwise he's a guard n she's just any other inmate..

Its the same guard she talks to when she leaves the prison in the beginning, when she works there. Maybe they have known eachother for a long time, and have a semi-close work relationship, and he doesn't feel that she is being treated fairly. Probably because he views her as a doctor, and has respect for her and doesn't understand what is really going on.
