Is Chloe possessed by the same ghost? What was Chloe's connection to the murders? Was Chloe in there for murdering her father?

My interpretation was that Chloe may have been mentally unstable, but the Sheriff was molesting her in her cell.

Though it was the fact that Chloe was being rather cryptic about it all that didn't help her get through to Miranda. She referred to the Sheriff as 'The Devil,' which definitely sounded delusional.

As I understood it...she is in there for murdering her stepfather...and she is thought to be having delusions of "satan" raping her in her cell...when in reality, it was the sheriff raping her, but nobody would believe her. The "ghost" of the murdered teen girl reveals this to Halle's character, but she doesn't make that connection until later in the film.

What? When was the sheriff ever at the Penitentary? How did he get in her cell? Why was he raping Chloe? I believe it was a demon in Chloes cell. And since Miranda was possessed she could see it too.
