Very reminiscent of Changeling (2008), when no one believes Christine's pleas. Chloe was similar to Carol in Changeling.
shareGothika was released five years prior to Changeling, so if anything Changeling would be reminiscent of Gothika and not the other way around... but I disagree that the movies are similar at all.
Changeling was about a police cover-up - the police coerced a boy to pretend he was Christine Collins' missing son even though they knew he was not, and when Christine argued her point the police had her involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility.
In Gothika, a woman kills her husband and gets committed for killing her husband. There was no conspiracy, even her lawyer told her that the evidence was overwhelming and the prosecution had an open and shut case.
