Creepy, creepy book

I'm so surprised that they are making this into a movie, I didn't even think the book was that popular, but with Ian Mckellen and Natasha Richanrdson starring, it's bound to be good, though I am a little wary of how much gore they'll show, I don't do well with that.

I have been trying to find the book "Asylum" for months, but I can't find it. However, I found Patrick McGrath's "The Grotesque", and I like the darkness and weirdness very much.

I read this book about three years ago and I thought it was pretty disturbing. Sad, too.

I agree, this was a disturbing book, but I think it was meant to disturb. It's quite amazing when you think about it how close we all are to slipping into maddness without even realizing it. An unfortunate set of circumstances, a few bad choices, and BOOM. There you are. Tread carefully folks! (heh...heh...heh)

I read the book a couple of years ago, just watched the DVD and thought it wasn't as good as the book. If you want to read a very intense, disturbing novel set in an asylum, try "Shutter Island" by Dennis Lehane. He's the author of "Mystic River." I'd like to see SI made into a film as well.

I read the book from the library this passed summer. Interesting read.
