Maybe because they don't necessarily feel the wife is a "slut"? People (male and female) are complex, and do things others may consider wrong for any number of reasons. Life isn't as black and white as you seem to want it to be. Besides, how interesting would it be if every movie was about Mother Teresa or Hildegard of Bingen?

shareI don't believe Stella was a slut wife. She was clearly unhappy with her very emotionally distant husband. She didn't care much for the conservative, stuffy staff and their spouses, nor did they like or approve of Stella. On top of all that, I think Stella had an emotional/mental illness herself; perhaps borderline personality disorder. That possible illness would account for Stella leaving Charlie behind.
