So Far, two for two.

Not bad! I got my first chance to see the Disney dub of Neko today. The voice acting was better than acceptable and it conveyed the sense of the original Japanese dialog quite well. Last night, I watched Nausicaa. It, too, was excellent. Next up to watch: Porco. I hope Disney bats a thousand this time, because they really need to recover from the mess they made of the last trio of Ghibli films. If they keep up the good work, they just might do a good job with Howl's Moving Castle.

Yeah i agree. I was abit worried about the voices, but when i saw the lineup, i felt reassured. After watching it, i know they did a great job. There arent any of those "wrong" voices, that seem like they couldnt come from a specific person. Now im gonna watch nausicaa. Then after i save some more money ill buy porco rosso, and get my free dvd. BTW, is the Kiki's Delivery Service a DVD, because on that offer, it says DVD only for the Spirited away and Castles. Id like to get kiki, but not if its not a dvd.

So far, I have yet to get Nausicaa, but of all the Disney dubs of Ghibli works, the weakest to me is 'Laputa: Castle in the Sky.' James Vander Beek as Pazu just doesn't work.

Don't point that gun at him-he's an unpaid intern.

The nausicaa voices are pretty good. But it is far different than this. That is a true ghibli movie. Slower, longer, meaningful message. I didnt like it as much as im sure "true" ghibli fans do, but then again "true" ghibli fans probably dont like The Cat Returns, so, i dont like them. This is actually one of my top Ghibli movies, most of all because the pace is fast, and never slows down, theres always something reletive to the story happeneing. I have yet to see Castle, but all of the Ghibli dubs i have heard, are actually good.

Merry christmas to all, and to all shut the hell up. (Peter, the Family Guy)

I'm a ghibli fan, and I adore this movie. Though I brought it before Disney dubbed it. It's cute, but not sickly. The characters are also more adult but in with an innocent setting.

It certainly beats some of the sickly sweet or violant films that are turining up.

English Language Anime: Dub it, don't pervert it.
