I was watching "The Animatrix" some time ago, and in particular I liked the episode "Beyond". It has very similar animations and styles shown in all the Studio Ghibli films, and I'm sure, many other animes.

In "Beyond", Yoko loses her cat, Uki. When she says this it sounds like "Yuki".

I was just wondering, is the name Yuki, or Uki, a common name for a cat? Is there any translation? What about in Japan? Was "Beyond" (2003) referring to The Cat Returns as a similar name?

I have tried both on the Google translator but no answers.

Yuki means 'snow' in japanese.

I dont know how common it is though.

Yuki in this film is obviously a white cat (with a little pink bow) and she is very cute!!! And also in "Beyond", the cat is also completely white (but a little more tubby).

And "snow", is of course, white!

When I first watched this movie, my little sister thought I was talking about "Beyond". I surprised somebody else brought this up.
