Character

- spoilers -

I love the character of Haru. I love how they show us what a dreamy, awkward, and messy but kind young girl she was. I can relate to it. And the part where she's raised by a single mom, too. And I love how silly and unintentionally funny she was, like when she was told she was going to be made the bride of Prince Lune, she had this instant mental image of a stern male cat and her, an obedient and sad bride, traditional Japanese style.

All in all, this animation movie is not excellent, but its still good. Love it for the cute moments. And I definitely love how the story shows us Haru's self-actualization. The ending where we see her as a more confindent young woman is great.

Yep. Ghibli's got a knack for making believable characters. Have you seen "Spirited Away"?

Yes I have a few years back. Can't remember much about the main character though, like how her personality was and her quirks, just that she was a little girl - I'm itching to watch it again.

Or maybe the prequel to "The Cat Returns", "Whisper of the Heart". Shizuku, the main character, is a lot like Haru in this movie. Or maybe "Only Yesterday". Taeko is pretty quirky.
