Japanese vs. English dialogue
I have been looking at Ebay lately, hoping to purchase a Studio Gihbli Collection Boxset. Most of the films on the boxsets are in Japanese dialogue with English Subtitles. I have seen many anime films, both differing in their original (foreign) dialogue and also in English dialogue. I do not think I have ever seen a Studio Gihbli film in its original dialogue, though. I have seen many, though, for example, Metropolis, Cowboy Bebop: the movie, etc. With these films, I like it better to be able to hear the foreign language and reading the subtitles, not only do I enjoy listening to the language, but also have respect for its natural and original state that it was meant to be in. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts, or have seen Studio Gihbli films in their original dialogue, since I never have. Basially, I want to know what people think about Studio Gihbli's Japanese dialogue vs. English, obviously from the subject of this message. Any advice or opinions would be very helpful. Thanks.
