Giulia and the piano? (spoilers)

I don't exactly understand why Giulia grew to dislike playing the piano as time went by. She seemed content playing it when she met Nicola but when his dad or Sarah asked her to play she seemed so...unenthusiastic or maybe opposed to the idea. Also, why didn't she like reading the music books when she was in prison?

Ha! No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

She didnt find herself good enough.

In prison they were sent by Nicola as a reminder of her old life and I think it was too painful for her. She reminded me a lot of Matteo in the sense that she was troubled and could never come to terms with certain things she did or did not do. Both characters very harsh on themselves.

Jan 25, 2011 the day it all started. Walk like an Egyptian or just protest like one!

When she first meets Nicola he asks her why she is a Math major when she is such a gifted pianist and she replies, "My Mother chose the piano. I chose Math." Maybe she found her Mother controlling and letting go of music was the only way to "get back at her", but in the long run it was Giulia who suffered?

I think, like Matteo, she was very reactionary and cut her nose to spite her face, so to speak.
