What's wrong with Carlyle's moustache?

During the whole movie I kept thinking "Hitler's moustache doesn't look right." It was so distracting I had to do a web search for photos of Hitler to make a comparison with Robert Carlyle's pathetic looking imitation. Yep, sure enough, Hitler's actual moustache looks thicker and bushier in most photographs, sometimes it looks even unkempt. Yet Carlyle is sporting what is in essence a whispy crew-cut under his nose and not the traditional (and historically accurate) bristly toothbrush.

You are right. Hitler's mustache was thicker, but Carlyle's is buzz cut. It should be wider too, extending to the very edges of his nostrils. I can't comprehend how the filmmakers made such an obvious mistake.

Hitler's had more space between the nose and the mouth, Carlyle barely has a jaw.
