Not a question just a observation. so every time they have sex it is a first date for her.

Yep. That's it. I mean, it wasn't for him. But for her it certainly must have felt like that.

But also keep in mind that she apparently "believed" the tapes/her journal, so in her mind, she realized she HAD been going with him for a while. And, eventually, apparently, somehow, he became a part of her subconscious. I'm not sure how realistic that is, but a bit of suspended belief goes along way to help me enjoy movies like this.

She remembered him through implicit memory.

She didn't explicitly know who he was, but she -felt- like she did.

It's realistic certainly.

It will always seem her first time with him, but eventually (in the actual weeks to follow) , he'll know everything she likes so it will always turn out to be a great experience.

She also was keeping a diary and writing about him every night. So even though she didn't remember him in the morning, she did have a record of their relationship she could read in her own words. I think she had a 'sense' of who he was and had a familiarity about him that she was comfortable with him even if it she didn't remember specifically knowing him.
