Truthful

I liked this film because of the truthful moments it revealed about love, sex, personal journey and empowerment. For example, the relationship between Moon and her father is very realistic to anyone who has had to take care of parent and try to live their own life. The paradoxical power of sex is also displayed and debated in this life in a very real life manner. The benefits and consequences are all very real and laid out for you but the movie never shoves it down your throat or preaches. The movie can be a bit convenient at times like the AIDS scene but still realistic. I found the SIA story to be a bit of a departure but the movie is entitled "This girls life", once you keep that in perspective the Rappaport scenes are easier to digest. One of the most intense and I believe well acted momemts from a chemistry standpoint comes between Kip and Moon after her encounter with Terry (Rappaport). That feeling of deeply longing to connect and intuitively knowing that it is safe but not being able to was communicated beautifully with their body language. James Wood does a brilliant job. Julliette Marquis is absolutely mesmerizing and captivating. There is something about her presence that is so calmly effective, sensual and safe, despite her insane beauty. She reminds me of a younger less intense Angelina Jolie.
