Not the money, this has independent written all over it.
Not for the role, since his character is a supporting one (he's not into playing supporting roles, unlike say Christopher Walken), and not the focus of the story (it's almost an insult to him).
Then for what?
Knowing Woods (the guy has a sweet tooth for hot young talent), the only possible reason can be to get his hands on Juliette and get her under his wing (and himself into her pants).
