Joe sure was annoying.

The character of Joe was really annoying. He can across as loud, pushy, needy and desperate for people to like him. He couldn't get the hint to leave Finn alone or at least give him some space.

We should all be so lucky to have a friend like Joe.

"You didn't come into this life just to sit around on a dugout bench, did ya?"

I saw this film for the first time this weekend.
It was amazing and the acting was superb.
Three lonely, damaged people come together -essentially because Joe works so hard on bringing tbem together.

He really awakens the person inside Fin, who has been suppressed by Fin's own shyness and the ridicule from others because he is a Dwarf.
When Olivia asks Fin why he moved ther,
He answers 'because I wanted to live next to Joe' with a lovely grin and no hint of sarcasm.
I would gladly move to live next to someone like Joe.
He is in his own pain, - but he is sensitive to others pain and wants to fix them.
Even although he suffers rejection from them at first.

I loved how there were no cliches in the film.

It was a delightful story and me me feel the better for watching it.

That was pure sarcasm. Yet deep down he really liked Joe

I would say my memory is not what it used to be. But I don't remember what my memory used to be.

Really OP?

Joe, to me, comes across as one of the most honest, genuine, good-hearted, loyal, and real characters I've seen in a movie.

reply

We give up on other people too easily, just because they don't react the way we expect them to. Joe doesn't do that.

I liked Joe. Thought he was funny too.

I liked him too, but in real life he would become grating. He was the right person to balance out the two other depressed and reserved friends-- the loud extroverted type. I know people like him and I definitely find them entertaining.

I took into account that Joe was an extrovert living in an environment that favored introversion - the opposite of what many of us (at least in America) live with. I think he would have given Fin more space had he more options - he was too sensitive for the likes of the guys that were supposed to be his friends for instance. I know from experience that extroverts with a soft heart tend to gravitate toward those who seem wounded and thoughtful and in need of a friend.

^^^ That's one of the sweetest and most endearing descriptions I've read about Joe.

Nice catch....and Fin was short.

I found him cute and adorable like a lost and lonely puppy you have to pet all the time actually. It's weird watching Cannavale here after he played scary impulsive Gyp Rosetti in Boardwalk Empire.
