Avice's play
This film was so clever about working in references to the arts and culture of the time. I can't help but think the play we saw Avice in first (she was blind, her colleague kept going up on her lines) was a send-up of something current at the time - either a specific play, a playwright, or a then-popular genre. It was so deliberate, so overly-stylized.
Any insight?
