Question about the spike-shooting device

Remember the scene on the oil rig where Miyamoto set off a device that shot spikes everywhere, killing Mizoguchi's men? Was that something Milly brought with her from the future, or was it provided by Miyamoto's "boss," the elderly lady? I've never heard of such a weapon before. I don't mean to be trivial, just wondering where it came from.

It's a bouncing/jumping mine, from our time. Something similar is seen in the film Eraser. Or at least it was *supposed* to be. What we saw seemed to be a 'hollywood' version of such technology; possibly a mixture of several similar mines.

Uum. Its a shrapnel grenade or a mine. Like Bouncing Betty.

It's some sort of frag grenade
