Red Dwarf, One Foot In The Grave, Queer as Folk....all previous British shows poorly remade by the americans....
Looks, the UK coupling series is avaliable on DVD....don't waste money remaking it and just distribute the three series of the british shows in the US....
A question needs asking here.... WHY is it being "re-made"? What's actually wrong with the real 'Coupling'? Can the producers really think so little of the American public as to believe they can't cope with anything forgein on mainstream TV? It's not like we've turned the West Wing (superb) into 'The West Wing UK'
I have to agree. I've been watching BBC America recently (last year or so) and every show on there seems to be getting remade by us. The British originals are usually far better.
Trading Spaces. What Not To Wear, and now Coupling? I just don't see the American version being as funny as the British version. The British have a way of making certain things funny.
What a waste. I love the original show. It's great. There's absolutely no reason to rip it off and make yet another bland american sitcom based on an already great British one. I'll stick to the BBC DVDs as they come out.
Well the few scenes I have watched from the american version show that the scripts arent really changed. They are almost word for word. The PROBLEM (we all knew there would be one) is that the lines are just droped out with no real acting. I know that because I'm used to seeing it done by the BBC actors that I want to see ours emulate them. It just isnt going to sell to the fans of the orginal. Lucky for NBC that we are a very small group. It will do good in america and people here will love it. Only because they have never seen the orginal.
When I was in london about 2 months ago I looked everywhere for series (they call them series instead of seasons) 1,2,3 on DVD. Not only could I not find them but everybody I asked told me the same story. That most people over there dont like it because they feel its a rip off of friends and they prefer to wath friends. That the BBC made the show to sell to america to replace friends and that they wish the thing would go off the air. Looking at the BBC raitings when I got back confirmed that it is NOT a popular show in England. And before anybody says anything I know I cant use their PAL disc's here. I was getting them for friends in Germany. They fell in love with the show when they came over to visit and saw my american season one disc.
I can only hope we get to see a "series" 4 BBC version. I'm not pleased with the way they wrapped up series 3, but I still gotta know what happens to the gang. By the way, Jack Davenport does a great job in Pirates of the Caribian as the commodore. I hope to see more of the orginal cast in film because we just wont get to see them as much in british TV.
Yes, the PAL discs are plentiful, especially online. Just go to bensonsworld.co.uk or blackstar.co.uk and order with your credit card. They ship worldwide.
I completely agree! What's the deal with them re-making it when it's already perfectly good the way it is! I will watch it just to make fun of how horrible it is.
The part that really irritates me is the fact that if by some miracle"Coupling" were to be popular here in the States. That's mean that people would fall in love with the Americanized Susan, Steve, Jane, Sally, Patrick, and Jeff. I wouldn't be able to stand listening to people talk about the characters and the episodes that they saw when they're sometimes too ignorant to even realize there already was a British and better version of it. I hope it fails here for the sake of my sanity. I mean REALLY who could be a better Steve than Jack Davenport?!?!?!I personally don't care to watch a Chandeler wannabe repeat some of Steve's lines. Okay-i'm done with my ranting for the moment. thank you for your time :).
i agree wholheartedly, Coupling is one of the most hilarious shows, ive ever had the pleasure to watch, and it annoys the crap out of me to know that america is ripping it off, . the original is much better, so i for one will not be watching.
