Why the *beep* was this movie rated R?

Can someone please tell me? I don't think the word "*beep*" was ever mentioned and if it was it was only once. While there is a lot of talk about sex it isn't overly graphic and there is any nudity. This was very PG-13.

Maybe it's because the relationship is with someone who is much older. Where is it rated R? In Canada it's rated PG

reply

in the usa.

Crazy. Well I still think it's because of the big age difference. And maybe the cat balls thing haha "It feels like someone is throwing marshmallows at my balls."

Hmm you know older films seem to have had less stringent ratings, at least in the early 90's and 80's.. while the MPAA is different from the FCC ever since the janet jackson incident everything has become so much stricter... I saw the Cider House rules and it is way more graphic because of the whole molestation thing but maybe that's ok as long as they don't show it versus oral sex.. so stupid.

Movies that contain the F word now are rated R, versus back in the 80's where they weren't.... case in point 16 Candles. I'm fairly certain the f bomb is dropped in it...

reply

Um, yeah, there's nudity. And sex stuff. So...

reply

yea...when they first make love she's lying in his bed naked. full booty shot and everything. not sure sure the PG-13 crowd is ready for all that a**...

"Eatin' a bitch out, and givin' a bitch a foot massage ain't even the same *beep*' thing."

Oh I don't know could it be that this is a two hour sex fest with plenty of nudity and sex jokes?

Are we talking about Shopgirl? Shopgirl has barely any nudity and there is no full frontal nudity. I don't remember it being a sex fest.

reply

Why not NC-17?
