I'm just curious as to the choices Claire's character made with regarding to having sex with both of her suitors.

She won't even give Jeremy a kiss after the first date, but the next time they meet is when she calls him up and invites him over. Both of them seem to understand implicitly that this means they will have sex, and so they do.

Ray takes her out twice and she tells him after the second date she doesn't think he should come in. Then for the third date he invites her to his house for dinner, and they have sex then.

Is there any significance to any of this chain of events, or is it all just mostly random? Specifically, I'm wondering why it takes her longer to "hook up" with the Ray character.

You'd think that Steve Martin would smell better than the Jeremy character - expensive colognes and whatnot.
Unless the unwashed Jeremy was putting off rawer pheromones that led her to bed him more quickly.
