Biggest credibility problem

I don't have a problem with most of the so-called plot holes mentioned here. But what did bother me was having the hero be so intensely the opposite of a Philip K. Dick protagonist. I mean how many professional engineers are able to physically and single-handedly overcome professional killers, thugs and cops.

Oh yeah, and participate in motorcycle/car chases? Totally out of character.

This is common of most Hollywood adaptations of PKD. They usually take a basic plot from a short story and make it into an action film. So, as a result, few of them contain the PKD every man.

Thanks for responding, Hadrian.

Well you're right about that.

Maybe that's part of why Blade Runner is so great. They really came close to a PKD character.

Have you seen the short version of Imposter? The DVD I rented had the movie version and a short one that was much closer to the original story.

It would be kind of interesting to see them making an adaption that didn't have any action, explosions or 'injected romance'.

What? Is such a movie even possible?

Well, if you look at the great movie called "The Interview", with Hugo Weaving, you can see that yes, it's indeed possbile, and very entertaining, too.

I would like to watch movies that kind of require the audience to think, instead of all these boring explosions and loud motorbike chases that lead nowhere (well, figuratively speaking).

I don't mind some action scenes here or there, at least if the main story is interesting and the movie is carefully crafted. Total Recall is an interesting movie, but I'd rather watch something like 'The Interview', but just with an intelligent sci-fi-theme instead of the 'legal system manipulation' plot.

Can you imagine what that would be like?

I mean, we have 'Moon', but that's kind of empty, interesting storywise. We know the story pretty early, then we just 'watch it slowly unfold'. It's a good movie, with great performance(s), and somewhat interesting (but flawed) premise, and even a little bit of touching humanity thrown in, and a surprisingly benevolent robot.

But something more complex and intriquing could be marvellous to watch. I guess hollywood rather plays it safe and SJWlike than actually create something interesting just to give the Universe an amazing movie.
