Who ARE you people?
This movie is an absolute abortion of Dick's short story. John Woo should really stick to admittedly all-out action, Mexican-standoff-&-explosion-movies like "The Killer" and "Hard Boiled," and leave thought-provoking science fiction alone.
Even Ridley Scott's treatment of Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" ("Blade Runner") is much more action-oriented than the story it's based on, and understandably so; the conventions of popular film demand it. Still, you wouldn't categorize it as an action movie. It never loses sight of *what it's about.*
Woo sucks.

Just accept that people have a diferent opinion to yourself. -__-

Don't you hate it when a signature looks like part of the post?

reply

I may have. I'd give it at least an eight because it's bloody entertaining.

reply

I didn't give it a ten, but I'm constructive and objective enough not to rant and rave using words like 'abortion' or 'sucks'. The film was competently made, engaging, and filmed very well. It would have been great had the film been made by the Hong Kong Woo not the saccarine Hollywood one, but otherwise the film was several notches above the genuinely bad film out there.

So what if some people rated it a 10. Welcome the big wide world of opinions.

reply

I gave it an 8 as it had great entertainment value, decent acting and a storyline you could follow and piece things together. Not, that it's any of your business...

Affleck is one of my favourite actors and Woo a stylish action director but this one was quite poor.

I bought it on blu-ray this week after not seeing it since I saw it at the cinema and wasn't impressed at all.

No chemistry at all between Affleck and Thurman, Giamatti is good (as always) and Eckhart is pretty good but the film just plods along and the story is nothing special.

I gave it a 5/10, would've gave it a 6 but I just didn't enjoy it enough.

reply

Another 2/10 here. I saw it on DVD with Woo's commentary and extras. The guy is deluded. Affleck is Cary Grant and Thurman is Audrey Hepburn? ARE YOU KIDDING?

Please put some dashes above your sig line so I won't think it's part of your dumb post.

Oh no! 1500+ people have a different opinion of a movie than you do! It's three years later. Maybe by now, you've realized that opinions vary from person to person. One man's/woman's idea of a bad movie is another's cinematic masterpiece and vice versa. How boring would the world be if you were the center of it? If everyone shared the same opinion as you?

reply

You wasted all those words. It goes without saying that this is just my opinion. Isn't that why we're here on the message boards? What did you think of the movie?

reply

I liked it. It wasn't a great movie by any means, but it did what it set out to do. It kept me entertained for nearly 2 hours.
