Am I the only one who really knows what this movie is about?!

Come on people! I can't be the only one who knows what this movie is about! It is clearly about Princess Diana. It is the storyline that was her life practically. She was incessantly chased by paparazzi her whole life and died Aug. 31, 1997 after paparazzi chased the black Mercedes (same one as the movie) into a tunnel (same as movie). They took a picture of her in the wrecked car just like they show in the previews of this guy. Also, after her death Mel Gibson was one of the many who spoke out about the paparazzi and blamed them for Diana's death. The plot is kind of crappy but I think I'll check this out.

you will have to remember there are differences between photographers and papparazzi. the latter is usually used in a negative connotation

I don't really think it's supposed to be that deep. I think it's just suppossed to be about ,see what happens when people get hassled enough then snap. They just put it in the scenario of celebrity/paparazzi.This could have been any scenario. This just the one the producer obviously undestands more, right. I don't think anyone is looking for sympathy here ,because apparently the celebrity in the film leaves his damn mind. Lol. That is how I see it. I think it might be kind of fun.Plus as for feeling sorry for celebs. Can we just admit the paparazzi are insane, whether you feel sorry for celebrities or not. They really do go too far.

If someone was harassing your family to the point of almost killing your wife, I don't think you'd be passive about it. If someone was f***ing with my family like that, I'd kill them. I'd flat-out kill them.

YEAH YEAH..GO FOR IT!! KILL 'EM ALL!

reply

Wow I never noticed it like that. It does make alot of sense tho.

reply

You make a good point - one small detail note though. I may be wrong, but I thought Princess Di's car was white?? Does anybody know for sure? Like I said... could be wrong but thought so...(Doesn't make much difference to the movie, I'm just curious now.)

reply

No it was black, I think she was hit by a white car

ruiner420, I'm sorry, but you sound like a very self absorbed, insensitive person to me. Just because someone you don't know dies doesn't mean you shouldn't be the slightest bit upset about it. Come on, it's a person's life that was lost; someone with a family and friends who will be pissed. You don't have to mourn it like their family would, but you shouldn't turn up your nose and say you don't give a rat's ass. Especially don't be disgusted with the normal, thoughtful people who are concerned about a person's death.
It may not be 'your business', but the least you could do is be a decent human being and show some respect, asswipe.

I totally agree with you mrpibbles. but the real reason everyone is upset about diana's death was that she was getting out of a very messy divorce, which was caused by her stupid cheating as husband prince charles and his equally stupid mistress. even after her divorce she was extremely depressed and full of anxiety, then after she was getting through those problems and waiting for her sons to grow up, she met an untimely death, which was caused by the paparazzi chasing her and her boyfriend down a tunnel and making them crash into another poor innocent victim's car. people are even madder because the paparazzi were the people that killed and they weren't even charged for her death, even though they had cellphones in their pockets were and able to call the ambulance, but chose not to. and if that was my family, i'd be pretty darn pissed and would sue the pants off of anybody who used those photos.

Actually, if you go back to the divorce records of her parents, one of the reasons she had the problems that she had was that her father drank too much and beat her mother. The entire family is messed up. Diana wasn't the only one with an eating disorder - one of her sisters was anorectic. Her brother's first wife was anorectic and *he* made her worse. She had major problems before she ever became engaged to Prince Charles. Their marriage should never have happened. She had *no* concept of what marriage to Charles would be like. She just wanted to dress up and go to parties and be the queen and have people love her and tell her how wonderful she was. They had nothing in common and she was much too young for marriage. She *lied* to him about loving the country life, and enjoying the things he enjoyed. She wasn't the only sheep being "led to the slaughter" as she put it. The fault did not all lie with Charles. Yes, he committed adultery with Camilla Parker-Bowles. But, she did it first and with any number of men.

I'm sorry too mrpibbles, but that's just rubbish. I especially like how your last line contrasts so perfectly with the first. You completely jump to conclusions about someone's personality from 6 lines of text or so, and then you go and lecture him about decency, only to top it all off with that little toilet paper remark that you just had to throw in.
I don't think you have to be self-absorbed or insensitive to think like that. I doubt that i'm a particularly insensitive human being (I wept during several episodes of Buffy for crying out loud, and i'm a 23 year old guy). I'm not in a position to judge about whether or not i'm self absorbed, but i can honestly say that i care a lot about the people that i know, even if i don't know them too well. Even so, if I hear that someone famous that I don't know in real life has died, I don't seriously give a rat's ass either. I might, worst case scenario, give it 3 seconds of interest. Why the hell should the death of a celebrity be something to stand still by, whereas the deaths of all the unknowns out there shouldn't? Just because the famous are famous? I'm pretty sure you don't scan the obituaries every day to "feel their loss", do you? Of course not. That'd be considered weird, depressing, or even mildly insane. Sounds somewhat hypocritical if you ask me. No one can care about every one of the 6 billion people that live today, including you.
It may just be the fact that the way ruiner420 puts it sounds a bit politically incorrect, but I agree with his post. As long as it doesn't affect me or someone close to me, i don't (sincerely) care. I can say i do (i even might), but the simple fact is that i don't. To put it very bluntly, if your TV broke on the same day that Diana died, which do you honestly feel is the worst event of your day?
No offence intended.

No you are not. The first thing I thought when watching the trailer, during the car scene was 'Oh, Princess Di'

reply

No, I was thinking about Princess Diana when I saw the big scene over the bridge when there's like four cars surrounding the guy and his wife and then there's the accident.

reply

Diana died because her driver drove into a tunnel structure and destroyed the car she was riding in. Diana and her boyfriend should have lived, but they were not wearing their seatbelts. Diana's bodyguard was in in the front seat and survived simply because he took the reasonable precaution of wearing his seatbelt.

People who say the paparazzi killed Diana (Gibson) are living in denial.

Also, wasn't their driver later shown to be intoxicated?

I'm not saying the paparazzi are blameful or blameless, as a photojournalist, I see both sides very well.

HOWEVER, the paparazzi were snapping pictures rather than helping the entire time, and running alongside a car trying to snap a photo certainly isn't helping the concentration of the driver.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the trailer where they show someone taking pictures of a crashed car or something along those lines.

I won't be seeing this though. It looks like a dull B-Movie to me... but I won't bash it other than to say that the trailer makes it look bad and the emphasis on plain old revenge seems to take any weight away from any points on morality and privacy that the director was trying to make.

"...but I lied when I said that honesty was dead"

reply

I know the papparazzi are just doing their job, but i'm just saying they shouldn't go to extreme lengths and their live to get a photo, Id rather have my life than a photo. Celebrities should just pose for the photo, then the pictures will be useless to the paparazzis, aka photojournalists. And I'm not like those people whose lives cicle around celebrities, I go to school, have a life, and work hard for my money. Sorry if you guys misunderstood me. I didn't mean that they killed diana, I meant they could have SAVED her. And for the Diana and her boyfriend not wearing their seatbelts, you could still die if your wearing one, even though the majority of people who wear them do live. And for the Gibson movie, it does look stupid I probably won't waste money on it when it comes to dvd.

Um, actually I thought that was pretty obvious. At least the car chase that resulted in the accident.
