For the love of god pay attention to the beginning of the movie. If you don't, you'll be one of the myriad of posters with "the ending ruined it for me".

good advice jackson mayhem. This film makes perfect sense if you follow your suggestion and also understand one other key scene

I'd assume it's the part where she mentioned "it was like I was chasing myself" or something.

"Why me...?" leads me to believe that Alex was the killer and Marie and the Old Man were personalities of Alex.

Just my opinion.
