20/20 hindsight (spoiler as if you don't know already!)

I watched this again today with the knowledge of what happens at the end, and it still didn't help me accept what we see. I watched it trying to keep in mind, a) the killer is imaginary, and b) it's all Marie.

I found it difficult. I was still gripped by the pursuit of Marie by 'the killer' for instance. It did make sense of why Marie says 'I felt like I was chasing myself', the mother asking Marie 'Why?' as she dies, and why Marie cannot remove Alex' gag, and why Alex freaks out whenever she sees Marie.

But in terms of the whole thing making complete sense if you know there is no male killer, and it's really all Marie, I'm not convinced.

Still a good film though.

It won't work if, while watching, you replace the killer with Marie and assume everything played out the way it did, because like you said, it won't make sense. Some of what we see actually did happen as shown. Therefore inserting Marie in place of the male killer does make sense. for example, the carnage in the house. However, some events we see didn't happen at all, it's just part of her statement to the police. For example, the car chase scene could not have possibly happened.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I suppose I just wanted everything to fit the twist on a second viewing, e.g Sixth Sense. It happened to be on the Horror channel this week so I thought I'd give it a second look.

Both titles suck though!

Sm-meehan, just wanted to say thanks for clearing up, for me, more than other threads--that were dedicated to the topics you discussed--did!
