Scariest scene EVER!!!!

***SPOILER ALERT***

The scene when Marie/Le tueur kills Alexia's mother. It was intense, terrifying, brutal, unpleasantly long and I remember that unexpected growl in the end. I was moved from my chair.

That scene (and whole movie in general) changed my perception about French horror. It was like 7 or 8 years ago, that day I was watching first The Hills have Eyes (Aje), then Hostel, and I was thinking it's brutal, but I overgrew those scary movies. Then I started to watch High Tension (friend who lend me all those movies said beware of the French one I couldn't sit until the end). In the begining I was thinking it's time to relax I just survived Hostel (untraumatized :) ). Then the scene with blowjob and severed head. It wasn't too scary but that part when the truck was leaving was too long for my taste, and kinda suggested the terror of this movie.

Not to give much spoilers about this feature, in a conclusion, I couldn't sleep well for two nights, I remember how terrified I was. And generally those French horrors from 2000's are real deal horror movies (Martyrs, Inside, Frontieres), for me those are the scarriest movies of all time.

Director Alexandre Aje can really put a scare in you, even if his American movies THHE and Mirros are not even close to High Tension, they have that particular SCENE that chills the BONES (burning Ted Levine, heart eating Sean Connery killer, and The cracking Jaws in a bathtub) ;).

Yea man, I had to watch this at 4x speed with my eyes averted and it still scared the dung out of me.

I wanted to rate this a 7/10 so that I would never, ever, ever watch this movie again. But it was so good that I gave it an 8. :)

and with her last breath she just says 'why?', which suddenly feels a little different once you know the twist.
