Goodbye scene

A lot of posts are about the goodbye scene at the end of the movie. I just want to add my view of it.
I think it is the best goodbye scene in a movie since Casablanca. Or am I mistaken?

Both of them always make me cry a little. And I'm a grown man.

What if this is as good as it gets?

They will likely never see each other again. All they have are memories of a shared time together. Memories which they will reflect on , upon death. It's actually deeply depressing, but underlines the importance of decisions, acting on them regardless of life's constraints. Do what makes you happy, because tomorrow you will be dead.

It's certainly in the conversation for one of the best ever.

Relax, all right? My old man is a TV repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it!

It didn't even make sense. How'd Scarlett Johansson's character get out onto that busy street so quickly when she was last shown going back up to her hotel room with Bill's jacket over her arm & he was heading out to his car?

reply

I agree. I can see the similarities with the endings of both movies.
