Aged terribly

It feels so amateurish now, and Bill Murray is terrible.

reply

Couldn't disagree more. The film still holds up well.

reply

Wow. I just felt the opposite. I watched it today after first seeing it in the theater and I actually got more out of it this time. I appreciated Bill's character more and thought more of Charlotte. Their relationship was totally believable.

Originally I may have expected something a little faster, I can't really remember. Excellent film, any time you watch it.

reply

It hasn't aged one bit and Murray is terrific, which has has been in serious roles.

Relax, all right? My old man is a TV repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it!

reply

He is one of the worst actors in history.

reply

Scarlett Johansson is.

reply

That too.

reply

At least Murray was great in some things (Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Stripes); she sucks in everything she's ever done.

reply

She keeps getting cast BECAUSE she sucks. So slow, so deep. Then the swallow.

reply

You've obviously never seen Kingpin. The man is a genius.

reply

I would do such awful things to OP if I had the chance.

Less than forget. But more than begun.

reply

Quite the opposite this film holds up perfectly well. One of the best films ever made in my opinion.

reply

Absolutely. If anything, it's MORE timely than ever with the proliferation of the internet, cell phones and superficial social media interactions leading to ever greater feelings of isolation and lack of genuine human contact among large numbers of people.

It's incredibly poignant.

reply

Cannot see how it has "aged." It's not set in a particular time, and if anything it appeals to themes that are even more dominant now with cross-cultural experiences.

Bill Murray is genius here.

aLL films age.

aLL films age.

Yes, all films age in some fashion. Lost in Translation however has aged beautifully and doesn't appear 'dated' unlike plenty of other films (particularly CGI heavy blockbusters set in western cities).

I think this is mainly down to the theme, story and characters being so timeless and universal (if anything even more relevant today). This in combination with the visuals and Japanese setting muddling what time it is set in. Obviously they don't use Smartphones etc which is pretty much the only thing dated about this film.
In my opinion it still holds up perfectly today. 😃

reply

wow this movie is still in my top 5 favorite movie of all time and i listen to it every few months .. still the masterpiece that it was when i first saw it.

Bill Murray terrible ?????????????

Hell no.

-It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything-

reply

Why the hell does it matter how well it aged? It not wine, it's a *beep* movie! A great one, at that. Take that silver spoon out of your ass.

reply

The OP had something other than a silver spoon sodomizing him.

Something named Bruce.
