WAY Underrated
Fantastic film, I don't care what anyone says.
shareCompletely agree with you! I really love this film, is not Coen's best but i like it! Way underrated film!
Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.
Yup, I agree with you. I don't know why it's bashed so much. Maybe because it's a remake. I don't know, but I do love this movie. Tom Hanks and Irma Hall were amazing in it, as well as the supporting cast.
Jim Hutton: talented gorgeous hot hunk; adorable as ElleryQueen; SEXIEST ACTOR EVER
I don't hate it cause it's a remake. I didn't even know that until after I saw it. Heard if the original but didn't know it was a remake. I hate it cause it's really bad in a police academy way. If you like corn, bad Tom Skanks accent, bad acting and jokes that fall flat....This is your film.
shareI thought that most of the jokes were good. I've liked Tom Hanks for 25 years now (I don't care about his politics), and this is my favorite Tom Hanks performance.

I've watched this movie a few times over the years and didn't know it was a remake till right now.
"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"
The original is a 1950s British comedy, starring Alec Guinness. I have given the original a couple of chances, since I love fifties British comedy and I really like Alec Guinness. However, I've just never been able to get through it. If you see it, I hope you'll get more out of it than I did.

no it's a piece of crap
shareno it's a piece of crap
Nope, it's underrated.
I agree that it's underrated! This was always the one Coen Brothers movie I avoided because of its bad rap. But I was pleasantly surprised that it kept me interested, (much credit toIrma P. Hall), and I really enjoyed the final act. Classic Coen humor/style.
Now that I've seen them all, I'd say their only real stinker was Intolerable Cruelty. Oy.
Irma P. Hall is so funny in this movie and makes the whole movie.
