Tom Hanks Should Have Won an Oscar for this Performance

He was BRILLIANT in this role! Pitch perfect!

This is my favorite Tom Hanks performance.

I know he really got trashed for his work here, but I think he was brilliant. So full of energy, so enthusiastic!

Jim Hutton: talented gorgeous hot hunk; adorable as ElleryQueen; SEXIEST ACTOR EVER

I agree! Not many could pull this role off.

I think Kevin Kline would have been better.

I didn't like the character in general. He was annoying the way he talked, regardless of who played him.

reply

He was basically Alec Guinness's character from the original crossed with Colonel Sanders.

Finally!!!!! Yes. Lord the character is so good. How wonderful it would be if it could be reprised in some way.
May Hanks and the Cohens join forces again.
Personally, I love this film. It's a special treat for the Cohen people.

The Coen brothers don't spell it with an H.

Just wanted to let you in on that.

Don't know about an Oscar--I thought his laugh was overdone--but yeah, I think he should have been nominated for a Golden Globe.

I don't know if he deserved any awards for his performance in The Ladykillers but it is the best acting I've ever seen from Tom Hanks, better even than Forrest Gump in my opinion. He actually felt like a different character, which is rare, quite often I find I'm simply seeing Tom Hanks rather than the character he's suppose to be playing.
