Why is The School of Rock such a good movie?
Because it tests your brain, your head, and your mind..too.
Lol rock on, Dewey Finn

Seriously? It's got the wits of a Lifetime movie. Oh and unless you also have sand in your head, your brain and your mind and your head are the same thing. No wonder you're challenged by that movie.

Troll. It's a line from the movie. Perhaps if you had seen it you'd get it, but since you haven't seen it what are you even doing here?
shareI'll tell you why this movie is good.....it's because IT ROCKS!!!!!!
stick it to the MAN!!! any other questions?
CLASS DISMISSED!!!!
The rock helps. but who doesn't enjoy a film with kids rising to challenge, be it Goonies, Space Camp, Don't tell mom the Babysitter's Dead, Red Dawn.... We love it when kids mature right before our eyes in less than 2 hours.
My "#3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.
Don't forget Village of the Damned, the Bad Seed, and Children of the Corn!!!

And the music doesn't hurt.

Because it is. Perhaps a bit formulaic, yet, it gets the job done. When it was over, I was happy and satisfied.

huh? please elaborate.
I believe that children are our future. Now listen, teach them well. But buddy, let them lead the way. Let the children's laughter......just remind us how we used to be. That's what I decided long ago.

I agree with Dewey Finn about The School Of Rock. The movie tests all three of those same areas by seamlessly blending elements of 1970's 'Blessed the Beast and Children' and 'The Bad News Bears' with a parody of "Mr. Hollands Opus". Amazing!!! I think only Richard Linklater (writer/director of Dazed and Confused) could take all those 3 seemingly separate movie themes and blend them so perfectly into one cohesive entertaining movie.
Unfortunately, Mr. Linklater didn't achieve anywhere near the kind of School of Rock magic in his 2005 remake of the "Bad News Bears". I could be wrong, but I strongly suspect too much studio interference for the reason that production didn't work because, it should have been the perfect match of material and a director since Michael Ritchie decided to direct the original 'Bad News Bears' in 1976.

It's a great film because the director and writer (Linklater & White) were fantastic and worked incredibly well with Jack Black. But the best thing is, the kids aren't annoying (Ok, maybe the zack guy is)so you actually like the characters.
This film could've turned out garbage without much changed, but all the pieces knew how to make an entertaining and fun high concept film that can easily be enjoyed by adults as much as kids, (the rock ideas and references might actually make it more fun for adults)
But to say it was dumb and unintelligent but fun, that's a cop-out. So many films like this fail because they are not smart enough to think that it takes real effort to make a film this wonderful. It was incredibly well-made and engaging.
This is a feel good classic.
