The kids were way too young!

Seriously, if they got married, say 1948 or so, those kids would have most likely been born between 1950-1960, at the very very latest 1965 making the youngest maybe close to 40 and the oldest could be upwards around 55. However we see their kids and they all look like they're in their 30s at the oldest, maybe even late 20s, with little toddlers? I just thought that was a real stretch of the imagination.

Noah and Allie at the nursing home were clearly in their mid to late-70s. The kids that showed up to visit (as mentioned above) ranged in age from late 20s (Mary Ellen) to early-30s (Maggie) to mid-30s (Edmond). All three kids should have ranged in age from mid to late 40s to early 50s. Allie and Noah married in their mid-20s. There is no way they were popping out kids in their 40s. A definite mistake in casting.

It doesn't say what year it is when they are old, maybe it does in the book I haven't read it

I read the book ages ago, but I'm almost certain that the scenes with Noah and Allie in the nursing home were set in the 80s or 90s....

And in the book, they meet again after 14 years (at least, I'm pretty sure of that).

I thought the same thing!

I know, that bothered me too.
