Is this better than the 1983 cartoon

i think so, it has more action and is not as kiddy

Yeah, I agree with you. This series had depth, actual storylines, and character development. and most above all...Skeletor was an unredemable villian. Pure evil, no mercy, just as a villian is supposed to be.

While I agree with screamtwo25, I have to say much of the voice acting was horrible, He-Man being the biggest problem. John Erwin's voice sounded like a real hero, not like somebody going through puberty deepening his voice to sound older. The echo used on John's voice what just that extra touch. And the music from the Filmation series is epic. Everytime I watch the MYP series escpecially the transformation, I cringe. I have the music to the original series, I listen to it all the time. When I hear the music from the MYP series it reminds me of Hercules and Xena, because all of them were written by Joseph LoDuca. So, I have to say it has it's pro's and con's.

I was 10 when He-man first came out. I only watched a few episodes, but i was really turned off because to me it was gay. I liked the tips and advice they gave you at the end, and the revelation that the sorceress was Teela's mother intrigued me, but all in all if I had to choose, the 2002 version is the best, He-man isnt so powerful in this episode, but the stories are alot more real and engaging. As a kid if I had to choose I would definitely pick the 2002 version.

I whole-heartedly agree, make it 3, this is good material in the realm of the 21st century remaking 80's cartoons. if the writers have the chance for a live action movie I wish they keep them in the team.

IMDb message boards, you'll never find a more wretched hive of pessimism and racism.

The 2002 IS what the 80's version of He-Man tried to be but couldn't due to the Standards & Practices that animated cartoons had at the time against violence and whatnot etc.

Pity we didn't get season 3 cos i think the appearence of 'The Evil Horde' would've generated even more hardcore stories and given us some real kickass action scenes. It's probaly one of the last cartoon that lives up to the standard of great animated shows people wished had continued onwards akin to; Gargoyles, X-Men (1990's version), Spider-Man (early 90's version), TMNT (2003 version), Avatar, Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Justice League Unlimited, and Jackie Chan Adventures.

And seeing how cartoons of the 21st century, now have a wannabe and rather blatant 'anime' influence, and seem to be very watered down for today's audience of kids, without ever being clever enough to try and lure older types and are only targeted towards pruely kids alone, 2002's MOTU series; seems to be one of the last cartoons of a generation, to ever remind us of how great 2D animation is, and what we're missing out on, as of today in terms of storytelling and adventurous sci-fi/fantasy, action adventure series.

They don't make'em like that anymore. And even genuine anime getting weaker too!

Yes this series was better than the 80's MOTU toon. Pity it didn't have as many episodes to give us even more proof of that though!

wait isn't TMNT (2k3) still running but as the new "BACK TO THE SEWERS" SEASON?

eh today's anime isn't weaker, just a lot of bad Yu-gi-oh ripoffs and the fact that CN isn't really airing anime and the ones they do air are Naruto( now only 1 ep.) or AS and really late since AS has something against anime right now.

and wasn't He-Man 2k2 anime inspired also? like Avatar, thankfully that series wasn't canceled and actually had an end in mind! Shame all we get from the U.S. AND Canada are crappy 2d flash animation...

shame both Mattel and CN dropped the ball on He-Man... oh well Maybe it'll get a new season... one day *in my mind*

i totally agree it was way better and went more indepth with prince adam being chose to be he-man not just jumpin in with it. i think if it had been on a different channel or a better time slot it could have had more seasons but we can all hope can't we
yeah i said it so.....

but the funny thing is, "THE MUMMY ANIMATED SERIES" looked more 2d than 'he-man' did. since its all that 'anime' stuff,

I actually prefer this Skeletor's voice to the old one. It has a lot more creulty to it, and less of the buffoonishness. Also, you've never catch this Skeletor being infected by the Christmas Spirit.

if you would really like to complain about a "He-Man series" may I offer my opinion and suggest "The New Adventures of He-Man" if you were to compare THAT show to any he-man related series then it would most likely be at the bottom of your list.

I would rate them as

He-Man & Masters of The Universe (2002)
He-Man & Masters of The Universe (original)
She-Ra
The New Adventures of He-Man (90s)
