I was surprised the guy with piercings didn't come up with better story

When the bad guys showed up and you knew things were going to go bad and thought they had a very, very easy, basic story to feed them to get them to leave and not torture you.

As soon as the scene started I was thinking to myself, this should be easy just tell the guy Castle was badly hurt fighting the dead guy laying at the foot of the stairs and that he is on his way to the hospital. Tell Quentin he had stab wounds, broken ribs, cuts to the face and that he was in urgent need of care. You can even say the other neighbor was the one who took him.

I didn't understand him not saying anything...just asking to be tortured.

Exactly. Watching this scene right now, and thinking the exact same thing. He says "I'm not saying s___". OK, decent way to start, but when he gets seriously threatened, then he should "give in" and give them a fake story. That way it looks like they tortured it out of him. How the eff are they going to know it's a lie?

It's straight from the comic Welcome Back Frank. He refuses to give them anything because he likes Frank and is willing to sacrifice himself for him. Though the big difference is in the comic it was only 2 guys and Frank ends up killing them both in the middle of them trying to get Dave to talk.
