I purchased Ju-On: The Grudge (the original) and have yet to watch it. I just realized last night that there are 3 other ones in this series. Today I purchased Ju-On: The Curse (1 and 2) and Ju-On: The Grudge 2. My questions is should I hold off on watching Ju-On: The Grudge and instead watch all these in order when the others arrive? Will watching the 3rd in the series 1st make my experience worse, or does it matter? Thanks for your help!
This is the order that I watched them and it didn't ruin anything but in fact made the first 2 even better, treating them as a prequal. Out of the 4, Juon 2 is the worse (I think they were all great) as for my favorite that would be hard, either Juon 1 or 3 stood out closely followed by 4. The problem with 2 is that I watched them back to back so the 30 minute recap wasn't necessarily even though I could never really get tired of the Sayako chapter. If they would of just combined the 2 and just made it one, it would probably of been my favorite!
If you like Juon, check out Ju-rei (Ju-rei 2) it is very similar to the Juon's.
Ju-on, The Grudge Ju-on, The Curse Ju-on, The Grudge 2 Ju-on, The Curse 2
So I'm completely confused. Actually, Ju-on, the Grudge does stand on its own. In fact, if I hadn't seen Ju-on, The Grudge before I saw Ju-on, The Curse 2, I wouldn't have known what in hell's bells was happening in the very end.
My favorite of the films is Ju-on, the Curse. Curse 2 was a lot of rehash and a little extra stuff. Ju-on, The Grudge is good, but the timeline is very confusing, and Ju-on, The Grudge 2 is the same way. Confusing, with some real scary moment.
The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once.
The order I watched them would (in my opinion) have to be a very good order:
Ju-on: The Grudge Ju-on: The Curse Ju-on: The Curse 2 Ju-on: The Grudge 2
Ju-on: The Grudge is a very good starting point, and if you follow this by seeing what happened before everything that happened in Ju-on: The Curse 1/2, you realize the full power of the grudge/curse.
Finally, this is all topped off with Ju-on: The Grudge 2, which leaves you hanging with its awesome ending.
Too bad I had to see JTG2 with very bad english subtitles...
these questions are for everyone who has seen the ju-on movies and seen the american version (with sarah michelle gellar): is the american one a remake of "ju-on: the grudge" or is it composed of bits and pieces of all the ju-on movies? if you have seen the american version, does that take away from the viewing of the japanese ju-on movies? are the japanese ju-on films better than the american remake? do the ju-on movies have more gore than the american remake? is there a "correct" way to differentiate between the american and japanese films, or are "american remake", "american version", "japanese ju-on films", and "ju-on movies" all considered "correct"?
Hello I love this movie to death. I have JU-ON The Grudge 1 and 2 from yesasia and I was wondering dos anyone know where I can buy Ju-On The Curse 1 and 2 at?
Honestly, I'd say only watch Ju-On: The Curse 1, and Ju-On: The Grudge 1. Both sequels were really mediocre, and, frankly, the first one is the very best out of the bunch.
